Celebrating Vincent Price All Month Long!
A competition, a free online watch party and recipes...
In November things are a little different here on Dinner and a Movie. To celebrate two of my favourite things colliding (Vincent Price and cooking) I am proposing a Vincent Price month.
Prompted by the much awaited release of this on Blu-Ray on November 25th.
It’s VINCENT PRICE A GO-GO!
Cooking Price-Wise on Blu-Ray
I’m featured on the extras of this much anticipated Blu-Ray release, talking about Vincent and his food writing and demonstrating how to make a cucumber crocodile
a melon monster.
and a chessboard cheeseboard. Behold the splendour!
All three of these delights featured in the book and the Blu-Ray Cooking Price-Wise and here is your challenge should you choose to accept it.
Chessboard Cheeseboard Competition
I have TWO Cooking Price-Wise Blu-rays and TWO Oblong Box Blu-Rays to give away as prizes - YIPEEEEEEE! Thank-you BFI!
Also, for those who are outside Region-B, the winner of the “rest of the world” entrants will be sent a copy of Supper with the Stars: With your host Vincent Price
If you already have it, I can send it to a chum - won’t they be thrilled?!
All you have to do is beg, borrow or steal a chessboard - or make one out of paper or cardboard! Cheese is essential but you can decorate your pawns, kings, queens, rooks, and bishops however you like. Here is Vincent with his on the telebox…
Send me your photos by replying to any of these emailed newsletters or by tagging me in on Instagram - I am @silverscreensuppers over there.
CLOSING DATE 1ST DECEMBER
Our judge will be the much loved Victoria Price, Vincent’s daughter. I first met Victoria at the Abertoir: The International Horror Festival of Wales. Look, I was SO YOUNG and no grey hair! I think this was 2011.
That year, I also met Vincent Price expert Peter Fuller who has become a bosom buddy. We wrote the Supper with the Stars book together which was so much fun.
Peter will be my co-host at this month’s watch party. Do join us, wherever you are in the world. We will have a private chat room where we can text-along-a-movie! More details will follow but for now, pop this date in your diary.
We will be watching The Raven (1963)
It’s the kind of Vincent film I like best… A FUNNY ONE!
Can’t join us in person? Why not throw your own watch party - here’s an invite you can send to chums.
I’ve just put “Vincent Price” in this invitation, rather than specified the film, because let’s face it, ALL of Vincent’s movies are brilliant so you might want to choose another. It’s Vincent Price month! Indulge yourself! Let me know which of his movie(s) you watch in November.
Here is a link to a free streaming version of THE RAVEN on the Daily Motion site.
And if you are not already subscribed to the Supper with the Stars Instagram feed, here’s a link to that. Peter often shares recipes from Vincent and his co-stars such as this one…
The Recipes
I’m sharing here the two recipes that I proposed to accompany The Raven in the Supper with the Stars book. A simple potted shrimp recipe courtesy of Boris Karloff and Vincent’s recipe for house bread.
Kitchen video demo with tips and tricks for the potted shrimp recipe coming soon…
More coming soon for all you lovely people!
Star-spangled recipe books!
Christmas is coming folks! Don’t you know someone who would be delighted by one of these? Gifts to self totally allowed at this time of year too…

Oh Jenny! This is such jolly fun! His recipes are positively marvelous and I have never met one I dislike. How sorry I am that I had to miss last month's Psycho gathering. I am looking so forward to this! Sending a smile on this chilly autumn night✨️💕🌛
Ooooo!!!!! I’ll have a go at his loaf!
