When I started Dinner and a Movie it was my dream that readers would be inspired to throw movie-inspired dinner parties featuring the recipes of the stars that I share. Tracy from Jacksonville, Florida has only gone and done it!
My heart almost burst with joy when I received photos of her Some Like It Hot get-together. Tracy wrote that she served the following: “Jack Lemmon vinaigrette salad, Tony Curtis Hungarian goulash, creamy mashed potatoes, roasted pheasant, and Marilyn Monroe's brandied poached pears with ice cream. Complete with Manhattan cocktails in a hot water bottle.”
Here are the glorious pics!
Isn’t that just SPECTACULAR?! There are even lollipop cocktail stirrers! Thanks so much, Tracy for sharing these wonderful photos with me. Can I come next time?!
Two other readers sent in photos of their versions of the goulash recipe from Tony Curtis’ kitchen.
Rich W sent this pic, he enjoyed the dish and said that he would make it again
Sally H rustled the goulash up too and said, “It was a marvellous success. Served with rice and baguettes because we love a carb. Forgot to put the sour cream on the table, unfortunately. But it was great with pickled red cabbage. The Blacksmith loved it too.”
I just love the idea of a blacksmith chowing down on Tony’s goulash.
As I was reading Sally’s feedback and looking at her photo very early in the morning I had a strong craving for goulash. I emailed Sally and told her that I was tempted to get some of Tony’s out of my freezer and stick it in the microwave for breakfast. Sally’s response? “Goulash for brekkie? Absolutely perfect in my book.” Hurrah!
Have you found time to watch Some Like It Hot yet? Let me know what you thought of it in the comments. Next movie announcement coming on Sunday!
Joan Crawford Cocktails and Canapés
I’m getting excited about the Joan Crawford Cocktails and Canapés Workshop I am hosting at the Hippfest Silent Cinema Festival in March. Do come along if you are in the Bo’ness area.
The fun interview I did with Christina Webber for the Hippcast podcast is out now. If you’d like to hear me chatting about why Joan Crawford never sat on a bar stool with her back to the room, and which was my most disastrous movie star recipe experiment, skip over here!
That’s all for now folks. Keep your eyes peeled on Sunday for our next dinner and a movie proposal.
