Rear Window (1954) - June's Movie suggestion
Plus Jimmy Stewart's favourite recipe for Pork Chops Supreme
Are you a nosey neighbour? I am!
So is the Jimmy Stewart character in this film, L.B. Jefferies.
Ahhhh, Grace Kelly is so beautiful, so elegant but also so eloquent! How can L.B. resist her?!
Plus we have the always hilarious Thelma Ritter throwing around words of wisdom in her inimitable way.
This is a glorious film, so stylish and so clever. It’s a 100% solid gold classic! Pop a date in your diary right now to indulge yourself in the splendour of it.
Here’s another date for your diaries - next month I’ll be hosting a free international online watch party. The film will be announced on July 1st but if I tell you it stars Elizabeth Taylor, Rock Hudson and Angela Lansbury you might guess it!
The watch party will also be an online get-together to celebrate the launch of my Cooking The Detectives book. The release date is 1st July but it’s now available to pre-order.
Recipes from all of the stars you see here on the cover, and many more.
Jimmy Stewart’s Pork Chops Supreme
Jimmy’s signature dish is lovely and easy. It’s is not very photogenic
but it’s tasty! He admits that this is something his cook makes, rather than something he makes himself, but nevertheless, it’s a star favourite!
Here’s a close-up of the recipe.
If you don’t fancy Jimmy’s pork chops, why not have a lobster dinner as Lisa has one of these delivered from the 21 Club.
It’s not surprising that Lisa is a regular at 21 - it was one of the most glamorous venues of the era.
I am so sad that the 21 Club closed down in 2020 - one of the many establishments that didn’t make it through the pandemic. I wish I could have dropped in there for a glass of champagne or a lobster dinner sometime.

We've become a race of Peeping Toms. What people ought to do is get outside their own house and look in for a change. Yes sir. How's that for a bit of homespun philosophy?
Grace’s wardrobe in this movie! Such a great movie 🎥
