The Belles of St Trinian's (1954) - January's Movie Suggestion
Plus Joyce Grenfell's "149 Special" salad recipe
I have something super fun for you this month. Anarchic children!
I love all of the St Trinian’s films but this one is my favourite because it’s the first of three to feature my beloved Joyce Grenfell.
I am such a fan of Joyce that I stayed in one of her favourite hotels on my honeymoon.
and here’s this year’s birthday card from Mr Rathbone.
If you have never seen one of the original St Trinians’s films, or if you haven’t seen one for a while - TREAT YOURSELF THIS MONTH!
The Belles of St Trinian’s is available on DVD and I’ve spotted it to stream on Daily Motion too - part 1 and part 2.
If you would like to watch along with me from your sofa, wherever you are in the world, there will be a FREE watch party on Sunday 26th.
I’ll be in the chatroom from 8 and once we have a few folks assembled I will count down to press PLAY on our respective DVD players or streaming service. If you have never been to a watch party before, do give it a go, it’s fun.
To chat along with other folk watching all around the world, you’ll need to have access to my chatroom. You can sign up in advance to make sure you are ready on the day. I’ll send more details about the watch party closer to the time.
If you can’t make it to the online watch party, why not throw one of your own? Or find some time to snuggle down with your significant other or make a date with yourself to watch this classic movie in glorious aloneness?
To eat?
How about a nice, healthy salad after all the excesses of the party season courtesy of Joyce?
Joyce Grenfell’s 149 Special
The secret of this salad is the marinaded tomatoes…
In my kitchen video this month I’ll be sharing more of Joyce’s recipes and giving you all a whisk through the brilliant book that contains Joyce’s salad recipe.
It’s a doozy!
To drink?
Made in the St Trinian’s chemistry lab by URCHINS!
