Have you done any Douglas Sirk films Jenny? I'm thinking particularly of All that Heaven Allows. That lobster supper. The martinis. And I bet that Agnes Moorhead has a few club canapé recipes on standby.

Oooooh Cheryl! Brilliant suggestion. I will get my Douglas Sirk box set out! I was thinking of doing Imitation of Life because I love that movie and I love Lana Turner, but I’m also thinking of doing The Postman Always Rings Twice, so I will settle down to All that Heaven Allows soon to ponder. I see from my spreadsheet that I have a Jane Wyman recipe for “Mock Ducklings” whatever that may be! Plus I know I have a great Agnes Moorhead dessert that involves amaretti and I have half a box of those in the cupboard x

Ooh I love, love, love Imitation of Life. I know it backwards and I still cry every single time.

Any old chicken will do 😂🐔I usually get a whole one and joint it while watching Delia Smith demonstrating how to do it. But I have made it with thighs and drummers too xxx

What temperature did you cook the chicken at?

Hi Rich - it's cooked on the hob so at a simmer. I guess you could pop it in the oven. From a quick zip around the internet it seems 175C/350F for an hour seems to be about standard. Do let me know how it turns out if you try it x
