Hi, Jenny. I love old movies and have read quite a few Hitchcock biographies., he was a very interesting guy, a great artist, but an odious human being. His films are far more complex than is obvious.

I found your site while in the hospital several years ago. I was fasting, and so hungry. I was consoling myself by watching old TV shows, and after watching the Columbo episode with all the chefs, I was poking around and found your cookbooks. So clever you are to connect the food and the stars. I especially love different cocktails, so am really enjoying your offerings.

Hitchcock is always entertaining, and this amazing movie is no exception. I didn't watch it with you ,but I've seen it many times. The only sour note is the silly ending with the big "R" rising up over the house in smoke. The studio added that against Hitchcock's strenuous objections. They did a similar thing with Suspicion - the censors said that a villain cannot be shown to get away with murder, so again put in a silly ending, again over Hitchcock's objections.

Thanks a million for dropping by Julie. Fascinating stuff about the big R. I wasn't aware of that Hitchcock fact and will be honest, I have seen this movie many times and have never noticed it! I feel yet ANOTHER viewing coming on! Haven't seen Suspicion for ages so maybe a little Hitchcock double bill is on the cards at my place.
